Cloud computing is used to store, process and manage data using a network of remote servers hosted on the internet. It is better than using a personal computer or a local server as it is reliable, easy to use and the data is more secure.
Example: Dropbox, AmazonCloudDrive, SkyDrive etc. 

There are several advantages and disadvantages of using a cloud. Few are listed below:
Advantages of using the cloud:
•    It provides device independence. The database can be accessed from any device as it web-based service. 
•    It is easier to collaborate in groups as cloud includes a feature of accessibility.
•    It is always updated with new characteristics and the latest version is always available.
•    Documents can be retrieved from anyplace. Worldwide access is provided.
•    It uses multiple redundant sites which helps in improving its reliability.
•    It provides infinite storage capacity. It is very flexible and is billed according to the usage.
•    Software updates are always instant and updated version is always available.
•    It reduces the software and hardware costs.
•    It helps in improving the performance of the application. 

Disadvantages of using the cloud: 
•    Constant internet connection is required as it is web-based service.
•    The performance will reduce with low-speed internet connections.
•    Stored data can be lost on a dearth of usage of the data.

Amazon Web Service is a cloud platform that provides On-call cloud computing services for business use, personal use, government projects etc. based on paid subscription. AWS is a version of ‘Online Shopping’ for electronics, apparel, DVDs, books and more which enables the business-applicant to use the web-services to make measurable and sophisticated apps. This enables the business-applicant to get the features like storage service, content delivery management system, development and management tools, managing services, database management services, app services, payment services, mobile networking services, computing, and on-call workforce. It is a Platform as a Service (PaaS), meaning the runtime environment for the development of an application, deployment tools, etc. is provided by the PaaS.
